More about Ephemera 2.0:
Ephemera Reborn draws heavily on gothic textura, a script that was used in manuscripts beginning in the mid 12th century. This script’s tall, angular letterforms, dense weight, and intense verticality serve as the primary inspiration for Ephemera. Drawing its name from the Latin verb “to weave,” textura was a blackletter script that, when written on the manuscript page, appeared to form a pattern resembling that of a woven textile. The text of a medieval manuscript was thus an important visual element on the page that evoked the materiality and visual artistry of a tapestry. To create the earliest printed printed books, printers designed metal type to replicate this beautiful calligraphy. Ephemera seeks to translate the beauty of these gothic letterforms into the modern age, providing contemporary designers with a completely original textura-inspired typeface.
