Agave - Display Typeface
Agave is a hand-crafted typeface in two weights. The distinct bars that are central to Agave Display’s letterforms were heavily inspired by the monogram signature of Albrecht Durer, a renowned Renaissance printmaker known for his richly-detailed woodcuts and engravings.

Beyond the particulars of the letters themselves, the broader whimsical spirit of Agave was modelled after Wes Anderson’s 2023 film, Asteroid City. In fact, the images accompanying the type in these specimens (colourful, flat, post-card like desert scenes) mirror the art direction of the film. The typeface was designed to fit into the arid, yet lively landscapes of Anderson’s cinematic world.
Like the Agave plant itself, a source of vibrant life in the desert landscapes in which it grows, and like Anderson’s films, unique works of self-reflexive metacinema that stand in stark contrast to the rest of Hollywood, Agave is a typeface that breathes life into any design.
